Capturing the intricate details of weddings brings me immense joy as a photographer. Regardless if you are photographing micro weddings or a 12 hour wedding, having a wedding kit can make a big difference in ensuring that everything runs smoothly. A wedding kit is a collection of items that a photographer brings with them on the wedding day to ensure that everything they need is within reach. I am about to drive into what I include in my wedding kit flat lay box. I do not use every single item for every wedding, but I do bring different options to choose from during when I am photographing flat lays.
What is in my wedding style kit
Chiffon silk ribbon gauze in different colors: These can be used to add a soft, romantic touch to the photos. They can be used for decor in the background, wrap around bouquets or boutonnieres, and even add a touch of color to the wedding invitation suite.
Velvet boxes in different colors: These boxes are perfect for displaying the wedding rings and other small items like earrings, bracelets, or cufflinks. They come in different sizes and colors, so you can choose the ones that match the wedding’s color scheme.
Decorative embroidery scissors: These scissors have a great dual purpose. They can be used for cutting ribbons or tags off dresses. They come in different shapes and sizes and can add a decorative touch to the wedding kit flat lay.
Decorative stamps: Stamps can be used to personalize the wedding kit flat lay and add a unique touch to the photos.
Wax seal stickers: These are great for sealing envelopes and adding a personalized touch to the wedding invitation suite. They come in different colors and scents, so you can choose the ones that match the wedding’s color scheme.
3m hook to hang dresses on: This hook is perfect for hanging the bride’s dress or the bridesmaids’ dresses to create a beautiful, flowing look in the photos.
Acrylic blocks for stacking in different heights: These blocks are perfect for creating a tiered effect in the wedding kit flat lay. They can be used to elevate different items, creating depth and dimension in the photos.
Emergency sewing kit: This kit should include a needle, thread, and scissors. It’s always a good idea to have one of these on hand in case of any wardrobe malfunctions.
Pantone paint swatches to layer wedding colors: These swatches can be used to help you create a color scheme for the wedding kit flat lay. You can layer different swatches to create a beautiful, cohesive look.
Tray: A tray is the perfect way to display the items like rings or earrings.
Braces Wax: You heard me! Braces wax is a great took to keep papers to lay flat or to keep envelopes shut.
Flower Frogs: If you are lucky, your bride made sure you had leftover flowers from the florist. Snapping off the stem and pressing the flowers into the frog so the flower can face up is a perfect addition to any flatlay.
I keep all of these items stored in a 3 layer storage box to keep everything organized and easy to transport.
For a backdrop, I use a neutral Chasing Stone styling mat to style it all on.
I hope this helps you build your style kit!
Happy planning!
